Search Function

The search function is the most valuable function in any online manual because it allows users to access information immediately.

And, as a rule, people resort to manuals (online or otherwise) only when they are in desperate need of specific information. This is the primary reason why online manuals are better than paper manuals — users can get the information they want more quickly.

At TechWRITE, we understand the importance of the search capability and we offer two types of search: full-text and keyword.

Keyword Search:
For Windows-based online manuals, we offer a robust keyword search capability. We build our keyword search lists to include as many searchable terms as possible, because not everyone searches for the same concept using the same words. For example, you may use the term "graphics" when you search this online guide for information about TechWRITE's technical illustration capabilities, but your colleague might use the term "illustrations." That's why our search lists include as many synonyms and associated phrases as possible.

Full-text Search:
This search capability allows you to search for any and all words within the online manual (even "and" or "the").

After we implement our enhanced search functionality, the next step is the revision phase.
